Kwanzaa is an African-Americans celebration of life from 26 December to 1 January. Dr. Maulana Karenga introduced the festival in 1966 to the United States as a ritual to welcome the first harvests to the home. Dr. Karenga created this festival for Afro-Americans as a response to the commercialism of Christmas. ( https://www.africa.upenn.edu/K-12/Kwanzaa_What_16661.html )
You don’t have to be African–American to celebrate Kwanza. The principles span time and space. All families should spend time at the dinner table and discuss the principles. It’s a time of family togetherness.
